What is Nimbus Screenshot?
Nimbus Screenshot, also known as Nimbus Capture, is a first-rate solution to your screen capturing and screen recording needs. It lets users capture entire webpages or specific areas of the screen very easily, and every capture can be tweaked in a comprehensive editing tool. All of your work downloaded in popular formats like JPG, PNG, or BMP and can be shared on Nimbus, Google, and Dropbox.
Nimbus Screenshot currently has about over 1 million users, and its latest version 9.1.9 was last updated on April 7th, 2020. You can go ahead and test the product for yourself by visiting the Nimbus Capture website. Alternatively, you could also search for the application on Chrome Web Store.

How to Use Nimbus Screenshot? (Quick Tutorial)
In order to begin using Nimbus Screenshot, you will first have to click on the new aquamarine ‘N’ on your browser’s menu bar.
Clicking on this icon will list all the features this application has to offer. Every feature’s name is quite self-explanatory and ranges from simple browser screenshots to desktop screenshots and finally ends at ‘Record Video,’ which, of course, means screencasts.
If you click on ‘Visible Part of Page,’ the application instantly takes a screenshot of whatever webpage you were on currently and opens a new tab with the applications’ editor.
If you click on ‘‘Capture Fragment’, your cursor will begin selecting different segments of the webpage so you can select what you wish to capture. This could include a whole image or text box or certain parts of an image or text box.
When you’re done selecting a fragment, you could choose to accept by clicking on the tick, cancel by clicking on the cross or click on the pen icon to edit this fragment.
If you click on accept, a window will pop-up asking you to save your screenshot locally as an image or a PDF file, without edits.
The ‘Selected Area’ option allows you to manually select a certain area of your webpage while also displaying the dimensions of your selection.
Your selected area can then be saved or edited, as mentioned earlier. You could also choose to share your screenshot across platforms like Slack, Google Drive, Dropbox, Google Classroom, or Nimbus Note.
The ‘Selected & Scroll’ feature is quite similar but allows you to scroll horizontally or vertically in longer webpages.
If you are working with longer webpages and wish to take a screenshot of the entire page without manually selecting it, you can click on the ‘Entire Page’ option. Doing so will take your screenshot within a few seconds (depending on the size of the page) and will automatically open the editor with your captured webpage.
If you need to capture pop-up menus or anything of that sort, you can try the ‘Delayed Screen’ feature. The preset timer will automatically start at 3 seconds, but you can change this in the settings menu.
If you click on ‘Desktop Screenshot,’ you can choose between taking screenshots of Chrome Tabs, multiple application windows, or just one running application screen.
Finally, the ‘Blank Screen’ feature takes you to the editor where you could either produce files on a blank screen or import a file from your local drive to work with.

Nimbus Screenshot vs. Snagit
It is virtually impossible for any application to not have a competitor and an alternative application. Nimbus Screenshot is no exception. Snagit, a third-party screen-capturing software, is considered a close competitor of Nimbus Screenshot. Let’s have a comparative look at both of them.
How is Nimbus Screenshot Better than Snagit?
There are some areas where Nimbus Screenshot outshines Snagit.
- It is a completely free and open-source application
- It has an easy-to-use interface that offers better work agility
- It allows you to blur or censor certain parts of the captured shot
- It allows you to capture an entire web page as one image
Areas Where Snagit Excels Better
Since Snagit is also offered in a paid premium version, it offers some features that are not available in Nimbus Screenshot.
- It can also create GIF images
- It offers one-click integration with Twitter, Facebook and Google Drive
- It offers more shortcut key options
- You can also use it to capture editable text
You can find more about this screen capture tool in our Snagit Review.
Limitations of Nimbus Screenshot
- Nimbus Screenshot can capture many windows, but this function is only limited to basic screenshots
- Sharing across some platforms will require users to upgrade to Nimbus Capture PRO.
- During screen recording, the application may crash, leading to a loss of data.
